Should I write a Post or a Page?

This system provides two ways to add content to the site: Posts and Pages. This Page should help you decide which you should use.
News items should always be a Post. So announcements, game results, changes to the schedule and other time-sensitive information should go into a post. Most of the pages that display posts show a few recent messages, with most recent at the top. Old items naturally disappear from the bottom of the list. Posts are automatically filed in the Archives, indexed by their posting date, so visitors can still find them.

Information that is expected to be useful for a long time should go on a Page. Links to Pages appear in the sidebar and are “always” available. They don’t trickle off the list over time.

For example, you are now looking at a Page. Any new visitor who wants an answer to this question will want to see this Page. It will continue to be useful as long as new authors sign up to use the system. Its usefulness does not go down over time.

What about historical information about your team?

If you have information about when the team was founded and who was involved in its creation, that probably should go on a Page. If you have pictures from your crab feed, and a story about the shenanigans that happened at the party, that probably should go into a Post, dated sometime near the event.

I hope this helps. If you have questions, contact the webmaster.
