On Fathers' Day (Sunday, June 16, 2002), the Norcal League held its first (maybe annual?) "Father-Son Baseball Day". Over 60 players signed up, so we formed 6 teams and played 3 seven-inning games. Denny Brown, Dave Distad, and Bill Jones of the Antiques combined with Steve LaFirenza and Rod Freitas from Westside to form the "father" contingent on one of the teams. Sons were Pat Brown, Eric Distad, Brian and Eric Jones, and Steve LaFirenza Jr. (Rod's son, who is in the armed forces, was not able to play.)

The Antiques/Westside team played against a combined Watsonville/Tracy group. Other games were San Leandro & San Jose vs. Contra Costa, and Lodi & Fairfield vs. Benicia. The games were played in Benicia at Benicia High and Fitzgerald field.
