The games started late, at about noon. The Modesto guys had to wrestle the field into playable shape.
We lost the first game 12-9. Dutch Van Wey started and pitched well. Garrett Rezzonico relieved Dutch in the 5th after a few defensive lapses turned it into a long inning. We stayed close throughout the game but couldn't get ahead and stay there.
We got behind quickly in game 2, giving up 7 in the first inning. Denny Brown started and couldn't catch a break. After giving up 2 in the second inning, things settled down a bit. We chipped away at the lead, but couldn't overcome the deficit. Final score was 11-7. (?)
