I'm starting to collect information on where to purchase wood bats. I plan to buy a few as "team bats". If you'd like to jump in and order a special bat, let me know.

I have had good luck in the past at West Coast Sports on E. 14th Street in San Leandro. I'll put up address and directions when I find them.

I got email (below) from Chris and checked the website.

My name is Chris Corso. I am the owner of Sandlot Stiks Professional Baseball Bats, Inc. We are a California based company that has just moved to Chico, CA, from the bay area. We supply some of the finest quality Hard Maple and White Ash bats available anywhere.

We offer team rates well below what our normal individual rates would be.

Please feel free to call me anytime at 925-389-1779.

Sincerely,
Chris Corso

The two 161 models got a LOT of use. Both withstood questionable hits that might have broken a lower quality bat. Both were broken during the 4th of July Cal Cup tournament. I'm very satisfied with how these performed.

The 243 model has not been as popular. It has gotten a little use, and is still alive.

  Hoosier Bat Company Woodforce $45
Ash $30

A recent email msg from Mark Bresnik to Mike Protheroe re wood bats said:

I thought I'd forward to you some web sites on wood bats. I just got a Hoosier Bat Woodforce 2000 [the 3-piece, ash/hickory/maple] and it's awesome, and $45 online from the company. Their ash models are $30. For $5 more they will inscribe your name on the bat. Feel free to pass this along to the other managers.

I know that Ron Mosely from San Jose Oldtimers bought some Hoosier bats for Father-Son a couple of years ago. He was very happy with them. I think I'll order a few team bats from them.

  Phoenix Bat Maple $60
Ash $40
$10/bat shipping up to $50/dozen

I don't know anything about these. Found them with a web search.

Zach: they have a special page for "Big Lumber" and for custom bats.

Gus bought two maples that arrived in mid-August after about 7 weeks.

Zach bought a custom maple bat. It's a great bat; too heavy (by design) for most guys, but Zach and I (at least) like it. It's a 2.75" barrel, with a pretty thick handle.

Mighty KC Bat Company No prices on site No info on site. A player in the Kansas City MSBL league started this company. I saw their bat in Phoenix in 1999 and was impressed. Then the Santa Rosa tournament got some of these for their tournament in 2000 and they were not very good. I don't know what to think.
